Speaking to IQNA via video link, Qasem Raziei said some 45 percent of the convoy’s programs during the Hajj have been organized in Medina.

Known as the Noor Convoy, selected Quran reciters, memorizers and Tawasheeh groups from Iran are sent to Saudi Arabia during Hajj annually to perform Quranic programs in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

This year, the 20-strong delegation includes Quran masters, qaris, and memorizers as well as a Tawasheeh (religious singing) group.

Raziei said that the group for the first time performed Asmaul Husna Tawasheeh performance at the Prophet’s Mosque and also one member of the convoy recited the Quran at the mosque’s official Quranic circles.

“So far, we had some 70 (Quran recitation) programs held at the Prophet’s Mosque, which sets a record (for the Quranic convey).

“This year, in addition of the planned programs (for Iranian pilgrims), we tried to hold most of our programs at the Prophet’s Mosque and among pilgrims from other countries,” he stated, noting that it was in line with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s recommendation that Quran recitations be used to bring Muslims’ hearts closer together.

Also, he added, there were Tarteel recitations of the Quran by the Noor Convoy for Iranian pilgrims for the first time.

Sending members of the convoy to Saudi Arabia started on June 14 and completed on June 24.

Other members of the convoy are Qassem Moqaddami from Khuzestan, Masoud Nouri from Tehran, Seyed Hamid Reza Moqaddasi from Qom, Hadi Movahed Amin from Tehran, Amir Hossein Rahmati from Golestan, Ali Reza Bijani from Razavi Khorasan, Mojtaba Parvizi from Tehran, Mehdi Karami from Zanjan, Mehdi Saadati Kia from Lorestan, Hamid Haqtalab from Razavi Khorasan, Ali Reza Makkari from Isfahan, Seyed Mohammad Tahaei from Mazandaran, Yusef Jafarzadeh from Hormozgan, and Reza Golshahi from Razavi Khorasan.

This year, foreign pilgrims attend Hajj for the first time after they were barred from traveling to Saudi Arabia for two years due to the coronavirus outbreak.
